Greatsword status attack multipliers?

While I know GS isn't very good to use for status attacks. However, I've noticed that when charging a slime GS I seem to get an explosion in fewer hits as opposed to using combos. I also know that for MH3U charging does affect elemental damage, but status attacks are a very different beast. I figured it would just be fun every now and then to break out a SLEEP SWORD or and paralysis GS every now and then.

TL;DR version: Is it better to combo with a status GS or get level 3 charges and crit draws for applying status attacks and keeping up with damage?

Hmm, I'm clueless, but it may have something to do with the status chance system. It seems much like affinity, because the status isn't always hitting. But if you want to know a good para GS. Get the Avidya Great Sword and awaken it. The sword itself has 40% affinity.

A few things to note about the Greatsword and Element/Status. A normal Lv3 charge will apply TWICE the amount of the listed Element/Status. A Super Lv3 charge (after the slap, taking a little longer to execute but deals significantly more damage) will apply THRICE of the listed Element/Status. Another thing to note is that while element IS NOT affected by affinity, status IS affected by it. Hope this information helps!
