Are high elemental weapons worth it?

I'm in G rank now, and im trying to make insect glaives and hammers with the most elemental damage there is, like the khezu hammer, but now i'm thinking: is it worth it, is it better than a high raw damage weapon or should i go for high raw damage with some elemental damage? (I have the elemental attack up skill)

Hammer's aren't particularly elementally focused.
Due to the way raw and elemental damage work, elements are more useful on weapons that hit often, and the hammer doesn't really fall into that category.
It can be a nice bonus, but unless you're only spinning (and you really shouldn't be, it's a situational attack) it's not very important. Focus on the raw first.

Glaives do like some element, but they also dearly love raw, simply due to the ridiculous boost they get from the Red buff. After all, the Anubis is considered one of the best craftable Glaives in the game for a reason.

Even for SnS or DS, completely prioritizing Element over Raw is almost always a bad idea and you're best off with a weapon that has a good balance of raw/element/sharpness.

zippoiiiSo the elemental armor skill isn't really worth it?

BerkelFor hammers? No, not really.
10% extra elemental damage isn't really going to make much of a difference. If we're talking Element Up and X Element+3 on DS or SnS it'd be different, but not for hammer.
Add other offensive skills first. Sharpness+1, Razor Sharp, Challenger+2, Au whatever, Weakness Exploit, all the good stuff.
