How do i connect to people online with the 3DS version of MH3U?

I remember the awesome multiplayer in Tri, and how easy it was to connect to random cities, can i do that in the 3DS version of MH3U? Or do i have to have someones friend information? And if i can join random rooms, how do i do so? All i can figure out how to do is get into the multi tavern, and i don't fully undertand it.

The 3DS version of MH3U doesn't have online; you can only play with people locally. The WiiU version has an online mode similar to Tri's. Sorry!

LoneThere's gimmick that allows you to go onlin with the 3DS version, but it's Japan-only for now and you need a WiiU to act as a sort of "antenna" anyway. So for now, yeah, you're down to playing with people close to you =/

The 3DS requires several things to play online, enough that you're almost better off getting the WiiU version of the game.
-USB Lan Adapter
-Packet Relay Tool (free download for WiiU)

Basically, you're using your WiiU with a wired connection to the internet, then the WiiU connects wirelessly to the 3DS. You're 3DS thinks that the WiiU is another 3DS and does local adhoc with it.
The WiiU handles network connections, voice and text chat and anything else not built into the 3DS game.

There are a few catches:
-You cannot host a room online, you can only join.
-You cannot join another person using the same setup.
-You cannot do anything else with the WiiU during this online game session.

Ideally, they'd make some way of doing this with a Wii. That'd actually be 1000 times more useful.
